Frequently Asked Questions
You ask. I answer.
What areas do you serve?
The good news is that I can work with anyone, anywhere! Our work can be done over the phone, through email, and over Skype or video chat.
What happens during a consultation?
First, we will get on the phone and have a 1-hour meeting where I learn about all of your family's needs and goals. Then, I will create a unique plan just for you! We can either get back on the phone or video chat to discuss the plan. During the rest of the allotted time (depending on your chosen package) we will have scheduled follow-up calls and emails so you are never left on your own through the process.
Will you come into my home?
Not typically. However; if that is something you'd like to discuss, I do offer half-night or full-night in-home options.
Will I have to let my baby "cry it out?"
My approach is gentle and I will never ask you to leave your crying child alone. However, crying is how babies and small children communicate, and is often a part of change as it is a way of protesting.
I've already read all the books, how can Dr. DeBear Family Consulting help me?
Books are great! I also read many books to prepare myself to sleep train my daughter. However, there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach or magic spell that a book can prescribe to ALL families. As a sleep consultant, I am able to create a personalized plan just for your family. However, where the success really comes in is with the follow-up. If something isn't working, we'll tweak it! I'm not only here to guide and educate you, but also to be your sounding board. That's a huge benefit of working with a real, live personal consultant!
How is sleep training most effective?
When parents and caregivers are ready and willing to be consistent 100% of the time.
